Fourth Month

Four months down, one to go! I can hardly believe it! Only three or four more blog posts left to do then I'm out...... scary! Sandy Pines has been my life for a good portion of this year, and it is going to be really strange leaving it behind. For sure I will be happy to go back to a regular sleeping schedule, being able to shower longer then five minuets, and eating a healthier diet, but I'm going to miss everyone so much! The horses, Sue, the animals, the other interns......sometimes I wish goodbyes were not a part of life.

But they are, and we had to say goodbye to Lucinda this past weekend! Lucinda and I had started our internship at the same time, and it was very strange to see her leave.

We all get a cake on our last day!
To celebrate our last moments with her, Alex, Lucinda, and I took a two day trip to Toronto and Niagara falls! It was a great trip, and it was so much fun traveling with the two of them! The falls were amazing. We took a short cruise right into the mist of the horse shoe. I was so in awe by the immensity of the falls. I had never seen anything like them before! It was really depressing though walking through the city itself, concluding that where all the casinos and "fun" houses are, there used to be a forest and a home to wild animals. The city just leaves the falls kind of bare!

Enjoying smoothies and sunshine in Toronto!

Approaching the falls

Very cold, but enjoying our cruise!

We look so Canadian with our Tim Horton's! lol
Right up close to the falls! SO COOL!!!

Since it's the Halloween season, I have definitely had an over consumption of chocolate! We went to a Sandy Pines fundraiser called death by chocolate....I told myself before we left that I was only going to eat a little. Well that didn't happen! How do you resist a chocolate buffet?! All in all I felt really sick, but the chocolate was good, and it was a fun evening!

Over indulging in chocolate!
Events in the clinic have been about the same as normal. Not any faster or slower then it has been for the last two weeks. At the moment, our porcupine was moved outside, lots of squirrels were released, and so were our swans! We got in two more owls who are really pretty, and another porcupine that is a lot bigger then the one we have had for awhile! We now finish at around 7pm - 8pm! It is hard to believe that just two months ago I was finishing at about 11pm!

I have been having a lot of fun with raccoon enrichment! I gave them a pizza box stuffed with straw and hidden peanuts the other day!

People have been donating their jacko lanterns, and I have been stuffing them with hidden treats for the raccoons!

It actually snowed a little bit last week! I was so happy to see the flakes falling from the sky! Unfortunately its hot again! Where I live up North the temperature is up and down, but not this bad!

Leah posted our schedule for the month today. It was bitter sweet seeing my name written down for the last time! I really can't believe this is almost over!
